My young quaker parrot has gotten really loud in the mornings in the past week is he unhappy?

August 5th, 2010
He sits on his cage and shrieks, squawks, and is generally loud especially in the morning. My sister says he is finding his voice, but I have heard that unhappy parrots are very loud. Should I be worried.

I think seymour is around 5 months old.

My Quaker Parrot will only take a bath in his water dish?

August 5th, 2010
Is there a way to get him to take a bath in a bigger container outside of the cage? I’ve tried all sorts of containers he doesn’t want anything to do with any of them; he will only bathe in his water dish which is way too small for him.

How should we react to our parrot’s periodic biting? Please see the details?

August 3rd, 2010
We have a wonderful African Grey who is just the most fantastic thing ever. Once in a while however he decides to take a good nip out of someone. I’m wondering what is the proper way to react to this. He’s not usually a biter and sometimes we put him back in his cage after but I worry this will teach him an easy way back to the cage is biting someone. He’s pretty sensitive so I don’t want to yell at him or scare him. Is ignoring the bite the best thing to do or is there a better way to handle it?
I’d just like to add he can go six months without biting anyone then something might spook him and he nips. I just want to know how one should react to being bit as to enforce biting is bad. He’s ceartinly not a bad parrot and I understand being bit on occasion can be part of owning a parrot.

The spray bottle will not work as punishment because he enjoys being misted.
